Decorating your Garden for the Perfect Halloween Theme

Halloween is a great excuse to get creative and decorate your house and garden in a suitably spooky theme – perfect for setting the mood for a halloween party or daring trick-or-treaters!

To help you decide how to transform your garden into a halloween-themed horror, we’ve come up with a few ideas here.

Harvest

For a less spooky and more seasonal theme, why not opt for a harvest look for your garden? Hay bales, corn stalks, and a strategically placed scarecrow with accessories such as pumpkins, bunting and streamers in colourful oranges and yellow can really transform your garden into the perfect harvest setting.

This is a great theme for an October barn dance, or simply if you wanted to jazz up your garden for Halloween without scaring all the kids in the neighbourhood!

Pumpkins

Is there anything that says ‘halloween’ more than a great big jack-o-lantern sitting outside on the doorstep? For this halloween, go a step further and scatter pumpkins of all shapes, sizes, and colour around the garden. With colours ranging from typical orange, to yellow and even grey, you can choose to make your garden a spooky grave to jack-o-lanterns, or simply leave them as they are for a pretty seasonal look, and enjoy pumpkin-filled recipes for months after!

Spider’s Lair

If your garden has an abundance of trees, bushes, and shrubbery, it could provide the perfect setting for a terrifying spider’s lair. Hang fake cobwebs from every tree and bush, and string fairy lights underneath to light up the spooky display.  To spook guests out even more, go crazy with fake spiders, littering them over the cobwebs, hanging at head-height in trees, and even over the floor – party goers will have their skin crawling in no time!

Scary

If you’re hosting a halloween party, the scarier the better. Hide fake skeletons and mummies amongst your trees and shrubbery, and scatter the lawn with scary looking pumpkins, grave stones, and bubbling cauldrons. To really go a step further, look into adding in some spooky special effects such as a fog machine, and an audio track to haunt your guests as they approach your house.
