How to Decorate Your Garden This Christmas

Christmas wouldn’t be the same without sparkling lights and shiny baubles to adorn your Christmas tree and hang around the house. Making your house reflect the festive season is a great tradition, and a sure way to get everyone in the spirit, and here at R & J Landscapes, we say why stop at just your house? Turning your garden into a personal winter wonderland is the perfect way to celebrate Christmas this year, so we’ve recommended a few ways to decorate your garden for the holiday season.

Lights

Hanging lights outside your house can be a great way to get in the festive spirit, and entertain others as they pass-by too. Sparkling or multicoloured lights can create a lovely ambience, whilst themed lights such as icicles hung around trees and shrubbery can be the perfect festive addition.

Plants

Red and green are traditional Christmas colours, and what better way to reflect this than with a touch of nature in your garden. Evergreen conifers make just as good an outdoors Christmas tree as they do an indoors one, so place yours in an obvious spot in the garden and string some weather resistant lights around it for a magical feel.
You can also look for festive alternatives such as an Acer Palmatum, which looks lovely in your garden, and can also be used as a gift or centrepiece.

Wreaths

Vamp up plain wooden fences or doors by hanging some lovely Christmas wreaths around your garden. These are a great way to add the finishing touches to a Christmas-themed garden, and come in a huge range of sizes, styles, and colours so you can find one that suits your home best.

Window Dressing

A simple dressing around your windows can be an excellent decoration for the Christmas season. From artificial snow to homemade garlands or festive-coloured jars, placing some decorative dressing around the windows is a pretty addition that can be enjoyed from both outdoors and indoors.

Baubles/ornaments

Christmas ornaments and baubles needn’t be restricted to the indoors, as they are also the perfect item to decorate your garden with over the festive season. Place baubles in trees and around your window frames, or just in pretty clusters on your outdoor furniture for something different.

Jason, the owner, was happy to quote for a repair as the original 80mm thick concrete blocks on our driveway have many more years life in them yet! and more in tune with sustainability. Jason’s quote was very detailed and explained all the materials that would be used in the construction. Before the works commenced Jason was happy to visit the site to discuss in detail what his team would do. Within the space of two and a bit days Jason’s team of three landscapers worked to lift four square meters of block paved driveway and 12 very heavy flagstones that had sunk and needed re-levelling. The team meticulously cleaned the blocks so that when they were re-laid they sat tightly together. The team also installed a new concrete retaining edge to one side of the driveway and a new manhole cover. Once the blocks and flagstones were lifted both the base of the driveway and front path was very well compacted before the blocks and flagstones were re-laid. Each stage of the process was clearly explained by the lead landscaper who was also happy to answer questions and discuss how the work was progressing. The team worked quietly and efficiently throughout the entire process. Overall we are delighted with the completed work. Once again our driveway and front path are just as level as when they were first installed nearly 40 years ago! An amazing and professional result from a team of three highly skilled individuals. We are more than happy to recommend R & J Landscapes.

Jalli and his team then got stuck in, even when the weather was wet, cold and windy and when the job was finished, they left the site spotless. Jason popped back a couple of times to make sure things were going OK, for us and for Jalli, which just added to our feeling of it being a professional team wanting to deliver a top quality product.
